The mother of five-year-old Taylor Rose Williams has been arrested after she is believed to have attempted suicide around the same time human remains were discovered in the search for her missing child.

Authorities said on Tuesday that Taylor’s mother Brianna Williams, 27, has been charged with child neglect and giving false information to police in relation to the disappearance of her daughter.

Investigators have confirmed that Williams, who is a Naval Petty Officer in Florida, is currently in a serious condition in hospital after she appeared to attempt suicide on Tuesday afternoon.

Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said Williams had not spoken with detectives since the day she reported her daughter missing and was no longer cooperating with their investigation.

It is believed that authorities were on their way to arrest Williams when she attempted to take her own life.

Authorities have not confirmed if the suicide attempt came before or after the discovery of the human remains but did say Williams had appeared to suffered an overdose after ingesting a substance.

Investigators said no one else is currently in custody in relation to Taylor’s disappearance.
