Lauren McIntyre, 32, claimed she started her affair with killer Andrew Roberts in a bid to uncover intelligence
A mother-of-three prison officer had a sexual relationship with a convicted double murderer – jailed for the killings of his girlfriend and baby daughter.
Lauren McIntyre, 32, claimed she started her affair with killer Andrew Roberts in a bid to uncover intelligence.
But she said the relationship with Roberts, who is serving two life sentences at HMP Isle of Wight’s Albany Prison, spiralled out of control.
Prosecutors dispute McIntyre’s claims as to the reason for the relationship, which a court previously heard lasted four months.
They also say during her relationship with Roberts she handed out a phone number – which was used to facilitate an attack on one of her fellow prison guard.
Today, McIntyre, a mother of 11-week-old baby twins and a five-year-old, pleaded guilty to four counts of misconduct in a public office.
During an appearance at Isle of Wight Crown Court, Judge Malcolm Gibney warned McIntrye she could now face prison, saying that the custody threshold ‘has clearly been passed’.
The court heard McIntyre entered into the relationship with Roberts, who was convicted in 2003 of strangling Louise L’Homme and their eight-month-old daughter Tia to death at their home in Rhondda, South Wales.
Their bodies were found under an upturned bed at their terraced house after Roberts went on the run.
It was reported Roberts sprayed aftershave or perfume on the corpses to hide the smell of decomposition before he fled and was arrested five days later.

Roberts was 22 years old when he was sentenced to two life terms at Swansea Crown Court.
He has been serving his time at HMP Isle of Wight’s Albany Prison – a Category B men’s prison, with a population of around 1,000 and where McIntyre worked as a prison guard.
McIntyre, of Ryde, Isle of Wight admits having a sexual relationship with Roberts – but said did she not have sex with him.
She admits failing to report to prison authorities that Roberts had a mobile phone.
McIntyre also admits giving him her mobile number and communicating with him via mobile phone and sending him a photo of herself.
She also pleaded guilty to trying to allow him to transfer money into her bank account.
In addition she admitted giving Roberts the phone number of fellow prison officer Samuel Laidler, allowing him to assault Officer Laidler and failing to warn Officer Laidler or the prison authorities of the impending beating.

Briony Molyneux, defending McIntyre, said McIntyre claimed the relationship began as an exercise for her to uncover intelligence and led to something more – although the prosecution dispute this.
She will be sentenced at the Isle of Wight Crown Court in January for four counts of wilfully neglecting to perform her duty and wilfully misconducting herself between November and December 2018 in a way which amounted to an abuse of the public’s trust.
Judge Gibney told her: ‘These are serious matters and will be dealt with appropriately.’
McIntyre was given bail on condition she must reside at her home address.
