The mother of a 13-year-old girl viciously beaten up by bullies at a McDonald’s while walking home from school says her daughter’s life has been changed forever by the attack.

The girl, whose name has been withheld, was assaulted at the Gilles Plains McDonald’s in Adelaide’s northern suburbs at around 4pm on Tuesday.

The group of bullies allegedly filmed each other attacking and taunting the year eight student, who was hospitalised with missing teeth and suffered memory loss, a concussion and damage to her neck, spine and shoulder.

Her devastated mother said the ‘bright and bubbly’ teen had only just started high school last week.

‘She is a beautiful straight A student. She has suffered bullying all her life,’ she said.

‘This poor girl has only started high school a week ago and now her life is changed forever.’

The teen now needs numerous surgeries, dental replacement, and has suffered permanent damage to her face.

A family friend said the alleged attackers are still harassing her while she recovers.

‘They are continuing to torment her via online messages,’ she said. ‘All while she’s laying in her hospital bed.’

In a statement, South Australia’s Department of Education said it is aware of a ‘police investigation into an incident that happened off-site after the school day yesterday’.

‘The school has reached out to the family and support is being put in place to assist the victim to return to school. Appropriate disciplinary action is also being taken.’

Police have charged a 14-year-old girl over the attack, and are continuing their investigations.
