Mother sparks furious debate after waxing her 10-year-old daughter’s face

A 32-year-old mother has gone viral for waxing her tween daughter’s face for the first time after she was bullied for having a unibrow and a ‘mustache.’

TikTok star Ashlee Pease, the matriarch of the Pease family, documented 10-year-old Giselle’s foray into hair removal this week before ultimately deciding to take her to a professional.

‘Okay guys, so we’re about to wax the middle of Giselle’s eyebrows,’ the mother of five explained at the start of the video. ‘She said people in school are teasing her about her mustache [too], which she doesn’t even have a mustache.’

She explained at the start of the video that they were going to wax the middle of her brows and her upper lip because she was being teased about her 'mustache'

Ashlee agreed to help her daughter wax her face using an at-home kit, though she made it clear that she thought it was unnecessary.

‘[Giselle] has a little bit of hair. Every girl has a little bit of hair right here,’ she insisted, pointing to her upper lip. ‘But we’re gonna wax it because she wants it waxed, so let’s do this.’

Ashlee started by applying hot wax between Giselle’s brows, but her daughter wanted to be the one who pulled it off.

The mom tried to explain that she needed to rip the strip off in one fell swoop while watching her slowly pull the wax off of her skin. The influencer ended up reaching over and ripping it off herself.

They did this three more times before Ashlee grabbed a pair of tweezers to finish the job ‘because those hairs are not coming out.’

Ashlee then moved on to Giselle’s upper lip, which proved to be even more difficult to wax than her brows. The tween cried out in pain as her mom ripped the wax off the sensitive area.

After a few more attempts, the mom explained that the ‘hairs are barely coming off.’

‘We’re just going to go to the professionals and get it done because, obviously, this wax is not working,’ she said.

‘She has some stubborn hairs,’ she added in the caption.

The video, which was shared on the family’s joint page, has been viewed more than 1.1 million times and hundreds of people flocked to the comments.

Many people gushed that Giselle’s thick eyebrows are ‘gorgeous,’ insisting that her bullies are just ‘jealous,’ but some were quick to judge the mom.

‘I don’t like this mother energy, you are not soft mother, looks very harsh in all ways. Change yourself urgent,’ one person wrote.

Another asked: ‘Why did you even post this?’ So she gets bullied more??’

‘Why don’t [you] just teach her confidence in herself and how she looks [naturally],’ someone else criticized.

Ashlee noted in the comments that she told Giselle people would kill for her brows, but she ‘don’t wanna listen.’

Despite the backlash, there was also a large number of viewers who praised her for giving Giselle bodily autonomy and allowing her to change something about herself that she didn’t like.

Ashlee and Giselle responded to one of the negative comments with a lip-syncing video that was posted the next day. 'I don't know what your comment means, but okay?' the mom said

‘My mom did this for me because she said she’s rather people bully her for being a “bad mom” [than] kids bully her kid for something she can’t control,’ one person shared.

‘Glad you did this [’cause] I was made fun of for the same thing,’ another added.

‘This girl trusts her mother so much she came to her with this issue [and] her mama did what she could to help build her confidence,’ someone else wrote in her defense.
