It turns out that some good old fashioned dish soap and paper towels will save your stained Tupperware.

Even though you may think that bunging it in the dishwasher will clean it – since it goes in on high heat – many of us have been left disappointed when the container still comes out feeling gunky.

The TikToker begins the video by holding up a dirty and oiled up Tupperware box as she says: ‘So I’m going to teach you something that my friend’s grandma taught me a long time ago, and it has to do with containers that look like this.

‘So I just got this completely washed out but it still has the stain.

‘So let me show you what I do.’

The mum then says: ‘First you take a piece of paper towel, and I rip off a couple of pieces.

‘Then you’re going to fill this with a little bit of hot water, like that much,’ as she shows her Tupperware box filled up halfway.

She continues: ”Then, you take a little bit of soap and you just put a little bit in.

‘You take your paper towels and you throw those down in.

‘And you’re going to put on your lid and make sure it’s on there tight as you’re going to be shaking it.’

The TikToker then proceeds to seal the plastic box up tight and shakes it back and forth, creating a soapy mixture.

She advised that if your lid won’t shut properly, that you an shake it over the sink to avoid any mess or spillage.

While she did not disclose how long she shook the Tupperware box for, she showed the end product – looking clean and grease free.

And social media users have been left wowed by the hack, with many of them saying they wish they learn about this before.

One person wrote: ‘How!? What is this black magic!? Also, thank you!’

And another said: ‘What???!!!!!!! Thank you!!’

A third commented: ‘Tupperware witchcraft!’

While a fourth put: ‘This is so cool because this has happened to me all the time and I throw them away. Will try this.’

One frustrated person said they tried scrubbing at their plastic pot for ages, with no avail. They wrote: ‘Literally just finished scrubbing a container with red pasta sauce stains and gave up… algorithm is algorithming.’

And another said that they have tried and tested this hack themselves, writing: ‘Can confirm this works. I don’t even use that much water. It’s so awesome!’

But one user jokingly put: ‘Bold of you to assume we all know where our lids are.’
