Tributes have poured in for a 15-year-old following a tragic motorbike crash last weekend.
Amelia Kotze, 15, described as a ‘champion of the track’, died at Sydney hospital on Tuesday after she was seriously injured while competing in the Central Coast Cup on Saturday.
Her death has sent shockwaves through the motorbike community and a Motorcycling NSW spokesperson sent a heartfelt tribute to Kotze and her family.
‘Amelia was more than just a rising star in the dirt track world; she was a beacon of talent, determination, and sportsmanship,’ the spokesperson said.
‘Her impressive achievements spoke volumes about her dedication to the sport.’

Amelia, a student at Belmont Christian College in Lake Macquarie, was also described as popular among her peers and competitors.
‘Her loss is deeply felt across our community, and she will be remembered not only for her incredible achievements on the track but also for the joy and inspiration she brought to all who knew her,’ they said.
‘In this time of immense sorrow, our thoughts and prayers are with Amelia’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
‘We extend our heartfelt condolences and support to her loved ones during this difficult period.’
Amelia won the Junior Girls State Title in Victoria last November and also triumphed at the NSW Junior Track Championships in 2023.
She was awarded the Junior Female Rider of the Year by Motorcycling NSW last year for her ‘exceptional skills and relentless passion for racing’.
Emergency services were called to Somersby at around 2pm on Saturday after reports of a crash at a motorcycle crash.
Amelia was in a critical condition and airlifted to Westmead Children’s Hospital. She was treated in the intensive care unit before being pronounced dead on May 28.
A GoFundMe page has raised nearly $14,000 for Katze’s family
Police confirmed that a 14-year-old boy suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalisation.
Brisbane Water police have commenced inquiries into the tragic incident.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to aid Amelia’s family and nearly $14,000 has been raised in two days at the time of writing.
‘Our little champion of the track has finished her race here with us and has gained her wings to now race in heaven,’ the fundraising organiser posted.
‘You were such an inspiration to everyone and you will be dearly missed by all.’
