Multi-vehicle crash on Sydney’s M7 motorway creating heavy traffic and delays

There has been a multi-vehicle crash involving at least four trucks and four cars on Sydney’s M7 motorway creating heavy traffic and significant delays in both directions.

The crash site was at Eastern Creek near Horsley Drive leaving 6kms of congestion, Roads and Maritime Services NSW reported.

Dozens of emergency services, a CareFlight chopper and a medical team arrived at the scene just after 12.30 on Friday afternoon.

Unconfirmed reports have indicated one of the people involved in the crash was airlifted to hospital. 

A truck driver was trapped with serious injuries, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

A police spokeswoman described the scene as ‘absolute carnage’ with ‘debris everywhere’. 

In footage uploaded by NSW Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, a pile-up of cars and trucks can be seen at a standstill along the usually busy motorway. 

Debris from the crash is sprawled across several metres and the sides of multiple cars have been smashed in.

The back of a small white Altezza vehicle was also crushed during the crash.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and to use an alternative route.
