Mum, 25, sparks debate after revealing she has a teenage son: ‘People shame me but I don’t care’

  • A woman, 25, posted a video with her teenage son
  • Many were confused about the logistics of their family

A mum in her mid-twenties constantly has to fend off internet trolls after millions have shamed her for having a teenage son.

Courtney Hewitt, 25, recently went viral after making a video with her 14-year-old son.

The pair was seen making merry and singing in a car despite many being confused about how the mum could’ve possibly given birth so young.

Courtney soon revealed that she was a ‘bonus mum’ to her 14-year-old, meaning that she married the child’s biological father.

She does not simply identify as a ‘stepmother’ because she believes their relationship is more special.

‘Be mad about this one, Karen,’ the mum captioned her video while referring to the many who ‘stare’ at her when she’s out with her children in public.

A hoard of people were confused and made their uncertainty clear.

‘So, you were 11 when you had him? What?’ a woman asked.

‘Jesus Christ – why do you have such and old child? You’re barely an adult yourself,’ said another.

‘The math isn’t adding up, how do you have a teenager?’ a third asked.

While others were hung up on the word ‘bonus’.

‘What is a bonus son?’ a man asked.

Another added: ‘Why does bonus make it sound like you got an extra one at the hospital?’

‘I really am so confused by all of this. Should we call the police?’ a woman questioned.

But the mum answered all questions in a follow-up video.

‘I am not offended, I love being asked questions,’ she responded to those who demanded answers.

‘Being a bonus mother is earned, the stepmother is just someone who marries the dad,’ Courtney said.

Many were in awe of Courtney’s tight-knit family and applauded her close connection with her husband’s child.

‘This is amazing – my bonus son is also 14 but he never wants to spend time with me,’ a woman wrote.

‘I’m so happy to see other bonus mums living their best life,’ a second added.

‘I wish I was this close to my stepdad, but it might be too late for us,’ a stepson added.
