Chantel Mila, from Melbourne, said there are three things she likes to do each January – and none of them are particularly lengthy or expensive to carry out; she starts by cleaning the fridge
The first place Chantel said she tackles is the fridge, which when clean will always make you feel better about the months ahead.
To tackle your fridge quickly and easily, Chantel said she first of all removes all of the food and then sprays it with water, white vinegar and vanilla extract – which she disperses using a spray bottle.
Following this, the mum-of-two will give all of the surfaces a wipe with a good microfibre cloth.
She then replaces all of the drawers and trays, and gets rid of any foods that she isn’t using or which are past their best.
Chantel recommends you run a load of laundry and include half a cup of baking soda, as this will work to make your whites even whiter (pictured)
The second chore the mum always does for a fresh start to the new year is she runs a load of laundry.
In order to keep her whites white, the mum-of-two adds half a cup of baking soda.
The reason why this works is because baking soda is a natural deodoriser and cleanser, and it also softens the water, which means you can get away with using less detergent.
Because it is a natural cleaner, you can trust that your old linens will be whitened and brightened rather than damaged.
Finally, she puts half of an old used lemon in the dishwasher which will work to make your dishes shinier and stop your dishwasher from smelling (pictured)
Finally, Chantel said she sticks the dishwasher on – and in order to look after her dishwasher she adds an old slice of lemon in the cutlery drawer.
‘Run your dishwasher and place a used lemon in the cutlery drawer for shinier dishes,’ she explained.
The reason why this works is because lemon helps to cut through grease and limescale naturally, and also leaves the dishwasher smelling zesty fresh.
Thousands who saw the video were impressed and said they would definitely be doing this New Year clean today.
‘I’ve done laundry, vacuumed, deep cleaned the dishwasher, took care of doom piles and burned incense. I’m ready for the new year,’ one person wrote.
‘You should start this as a series and do three tasks a day. I would definitely be following,’ another added.
