‘Yes I found this out the hard way! My son chewed the tip. The ball is in the tip of the nose,’ she said.

‘This happened to us and I found one in the hand of my 12 month old! My three-year-old had pulled the top off where it goes for the weight! Straight in the bin!’ a second wrote.

‘Good to know, even kids over three could choke so good pick up,’ a third pointed out.

Others debated the safety of the toy with some arguing the balls are not exposed and difficult for kids to get to.

‘They are covered by Styrofoam. It is only if you deliberately break the plane that they will be exposed – it wasn’t deliberately broken,’ one woman wrote.

‘It wasn’t deliberately broken. It came unstuck on its own!’ the mum replied.

‘The boys play with theirs every day and there’s no sign of breakage etc so I think they’d have to be intentionally bent in half to break. I don’t see them as a danger, they’re ripper little planes,’ another responded.

A Kmart spokesperson responded to the concerns say they are looking into the issue.

‘We take feedback on the safety and quality of our products very seriously and are looking into these comments with our quality team,’ they tole FEMAIL.

‘We encourage any customers that have a concern with one of our products to reach out to our friendly customer care team at kmartcustomerservice@kmart.com.au to ensure that it can be investigated properly.’
