Mum shares her simple hack for removing wrinkles from clothes that have been left in the dryer too long – but not everyone thinks it’s worked

  • Mum Carolina McCauley shared how she removes clothes wrinkles with ice
  • While many were impressed with the hack, others said it didn’t work this time

A mum and self-described ‘home hacks queen’ has shared her simple hack for removing wrinkles from clothes that have been left in the dryer a bit too long, but not everyone thinks it’s worked.

Carolina McCauley, from Perth, has built up a huge Instagram following of more than 2.6million people thanks to her handy home tricks and cleaning tips.

In her latest video, the Perth mum said you simply need to chuck in three or four ice cubes with your clothes in the dryer and put it on a quick dry cycle.

The cubes will melt, creating moisture and a steam-like effect that will zap creases and leave clothes wrinkle-free.

‘How to remove wrinkles from clothes left in the dryer overnight,’ Carolina posted in her video.

‘Next time you forget laundry in your dryer, throw 3-4 ice cubes into your dryer with your clothes and put it on a quick dry for 10 minutes.’

Carolina added: ‘No more wrinkles’, while holding up one of the tops that had been left to get creased and crinkled after sitting in the dryer overnight.

Thousands who saw the simple trick were quick to thank Carolina for sharing it, and said they would give it a go.

However, many also said the T-shirt she demonstrated with wasn’t a very good example of clothes being wrinkle-free.

‘In what world is that wrinkle-free?’ one person wrote.

‘Is it just me or are there still wrinkles?’ another added.

According to experts, the trick often works because when ice and heat combine it creates steam – transforming your dryer into a tiny steamer.

The trick works best if you’re only trying to de-crease one or two garments, however, as if the dryer is too full it reportedly does not work well.

There are other ways to get wrinkles out of your clothes without ironing.

You can try hanging garments in the bathroom while you shower so the steam can get to work.

Finally, you can also use your hair dryer as a makeshift steamer.
