Mum-to-be Haylee was excited to be welcoming her daughter into the world after five tragic miscarriages. Then a teenage driver ran late for netball – and her life changed forever

A mum-to-be who was almost killed in a car crash with a teenage driver has revealed the desperate fight to save her unborn baby, after already suffering the tragedy of five earlier miscarriages.

Tattooo artist Haylee Loccisano, 24, was coming home from work with her mum and young niece in May when their ute was struck by a teenage driver allegedly rushing to her netball game.

‘A Toyota RAV4 and a Toyota HiLux were travelling in opposite directions along Ipswich Boonah Rd at Purga, south-west of Brisbane, when they collided about 5.45pm,’ police said at the time.

Six people – three from each vehicle – were hospitalised, including Ms Loccisano who was seriously injured, along with her unborn daughter.

‘I was six-months pregnant at the time of the accident,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

‘My unborn daughter Celeste had to be delivered via emergency caesarean at 26 weeks.

‘Tragically, after 30 minutes of attempted resuscitation, she passed away.

‘She was my first child, I’d already had five miscarriages due to a rare genetic condition I have called NCAH (Nonclassical Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia).’

Ms Loccisano spent a week in an induced coma in intensive care, and underwent six laparotomy surgeries in a matter of days while still unaware she’d lost her long awaited miracle child with husband Connor.

‘My life will never be the same, they cut me open from my sternum to my pubic bone and have had eight laparotomy surgeries to date,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I have been permanently disfigured and have a 45cm scar down my whole abdomen, since my abdominal muscles tore off the abdominal wall on impact.

‘I have no core strength and cannot lift more than 20kg for the rest of my life.’

Ms Loccisano claims the teenage driver, who was 17 at the time of the accident, has yet to be charged over the crash and shown no guilt for her role.

‘The police officers told my mum that she [the young driver]  hasn’t shown any remorse following the accident,’ she said.

‘I don’t know if she was in shock, but one witness said that when he approached her car, she was just carrying on that she was about to miss her netball game.’

Haylee believes by speaking out about the tragic accident she is giving her unborn dead daughter a voice.

‘I just feel like because she was in my stomach, she’s not really getting the justice that she deserves,’ she said.

She and her husband married four years ago after dating as teenage childhood sweethearts from the age of just 14.

Despite all the heartaches of their miscarriages and now the horror crash, they still hope to one day have a child together.

‘The doctors nearly gave me a hysterectomy but thankfully the bleeding stopped so they didn’t have to,’ she said.

‘We’re gone some normality back to our lives now but we would really love to have a baby again one day.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Queensland Police for comment.
