Mum who had three miscarriages loses 28kg in six months

Mum, 35, whose weight battle led to three miscarriages and excruciating knee pain shares how she shed 28kg in six months to sculpt her dream body

  • Brittany Gordon-Brown, 35, tipped the scales at 115kg after giving birth in 2018
  • Sadly afterwards she had three miscarriages
  • But following the 1:1 Diet she lost 28kg in six months

Mum-of-one Brittany Gordon-Brown had hoped to have more children after the birth of her first baby but the stubborn weight she’d gained led to a series of challenges she never saw coming.

The 35-year-old, from Brisbane, Queensland, tipped the scales at 115kg after giving birth to her daughter Maila in March 2018 despite weighing a healthy 75kg pre-pregnancy.

As a result, Brittany’s knee was constantly strained leading to excruciating pain and she later suffered three heartbreaking miscarriages spanning over 12 months from October 202.

‘The first miscarriage was devastating. I have never felt such painful loss like that. By the time the third miscarriage happened, I started to think that my body was failing these poor children,’ she told FEMAIL.

‘My first focus was to lose weight to ensure my diet and body were functioning correctly.’

Wanting to turn her life around, she opted to try the 1:1 Diet and lost 28kg in just six months

Wanting to turn her life around, she decided to try out the 1:1 Diet and couldn’t believe it when she lost a whopping 28kg in just six months.

‘I was essentially pregnant and struggling in the first trimester for nearly two years,’ she recalled.

‘My daughter saw me looking sick and unwell and she would ask, “Why is mummy always sick?” which broke my heart.’

Brittany said she would consume high amounts of bread, pasta and fatty food and rarely exercised.

The third miscarriage was the true turning point for Brittany and she knew her weight was holding her back as she had no trouble with her first pregnancy.

‘My weight really dragged down my confidence too and I couldn’t ever step foot into a gym,’ she said.

‘I only wore lycra because it was the only thing I could fit into and didn’t want to leave the house.

At first she visited her GP who recommended weight loss drugs, which she did try but found it caused her anxiety to spiral.

‘I realised medication wasn’t a long-term solution and put weight back on as soon as I stopped using those drugs,’ she said.

‘I tried every fad diet under the sun and started jogging a bit but nothing seemed to be working.’

‘While on the diet, I didn’t exercise at all as I was far too self-conscious of my own body and what I would look like when I exercised,’ she said.

‘Once I got to 75kg I started doing Pilates and jogging to start working on my core strength. This has definitely been the best decision I’ve ever made for myself.’

Those on the diet eat three pre-cooked meals a day as well as healthy snacks – including protein bars, smoothies, porridges, and smoothies.

‘I had meal replacements eating just 600 calories a day and spoke to a diet plan coach from the program throughout – which was great for moral support,’ she said.

Simply by changing her diet she was able to quickly dropped down to 75kg then started jogging and doing pilates (pictured before)
