An Australian mum has shared her brilliant vacuum cleaning hack that has impressed hundreds of others online.

Posting images to the Mums Who Clean Facebook group, Loretta, from Melbourne, said she uses a bunch of straws to vacuum hard to reach areas around her home.

The mum bundled as many straws as needed to match the size of the vacuum nozzle then used a thick rubber band to tie them together and keep them in place.

She then placed the group of straws into the vacuum hose and proceeded to use the appliance.

‘Had to share this hack! Straws! Brilliant to put at the end of a vacuum nozzle,’ she said online.

‘Great for tricky areas. Also great for cars in tight spots and won’t pick up coins etc!’

While some Facebook users described the cleaning hack as ‘genius’ and ‘brilliant’, others questioned how the straws remained in place.

The rubber band works well to not only hold the straws together but stops them from being vacuumed up.

‘Grab a bunch [of straws] and make sure they fit firmly in the hose,’ Loretta said.

‘Then put a rubber band securely around them.’

Others praised Loretta and thanked her for sharing the clever idea with the Facebook group – which has more than 266,000 members.

‘What an amazing idea, now I can do my windows tracks – Dyson should bring something like this out,’ one woman said.

‘Okay this is seriously next level,’ another said.

A third added: ‘Why have I never thought of this?’
