Mum wows the internet with her clever trick for cleaning the oven with a VERY unlikely kitchen product
- An Australian mother has revealed how to clean an oven with Glad Wrap
- She said she coats her oven with spray then covers it with film while it soaks
- This prevents the cleaning product from drying and makes it easier to scrub
A mother has revealed how cleaning your oven with Glad Wrap will make the task easier than ever before.
A woman named Lucy took to Australian Facebook group, Mums Who Clean, to share her trick, which involves coating the inside of the oven with your usual cleaning spray and covering it with a layer of clear film while it soaks.
Lucy said the cling wrap, which is available from leading supermarkets such as Coles and Woolworths for as little as $2.70, prevents cleaning products drying out, making it easier to wipe away dirt and grime with minimal scrubbing.
‘I’ve been putting this job off for months…got a tip from Instagram to layer Glad Wrap on top of your cleaner so it doesn’t dry out,’ she wrote.

‘So clever! Just used Easy-off Bam Spray Foam, Glad Wrap and left on for a good six hours.’
Lucy explained the method, saying she starts by removing each oven rack before slipping on a face mask and gloves to spray the inside.
‘It takes a little while but you want a really thick covering of the foam as it comes out,’ she wrote.
Lucy said she then covers the foam with Glad Wrap, pressing the film down firmly to stop air entering and drying it out.
‘Then wait, wait, wait, then put all the Glad Wrap in the bin, fill your sink with hot water and detergent and get wiping!’

She added: ‘No scrubbing, just wiping with my Scrub Daddy sponge and then a microfibre cloth. Took lots of wiping just to clean off all the grime and cleaner.’
Hundreds were thrilled with the technique, with one woman calling it the ‘best and easiest hack ever’.
Another added: ‘Be right back – cleaning oven.’
Others said they would try the trick to pass time during lockdown.
