Mumsnet user blasts bride and groom for save-the-date card

Weddings usually require careful planning – whether that’s months, or even years, in advance.

But one bride and groom have been blasted after sending out an ‘over-the-top’ save-the-date card that demands that guests set aside two different days that they’re considering for their wedding.

The card also appeared to dictate what guests can wear, with a note adding: ‘Top hint: Keep colour schemes orange/white or maybe pink in mind’.

The unusual save-the-date card was shared on Mumsnet by one of the guests invited to the wedding, who described it as ‘very odd’, with one user hailing the bride a ‘self-absorbed loon’.

A Mumsnet user explained how she had received a save-the-date card which asked guests to set aside two different dates for the wedding (file photo)

Describing the card as 'very odd', she explained the message ended with 'Top hint: Keep colour schemes orange/ white or maybe pink in mind'

Others were quick to slam the save-the-date card, calling it 'bizarre' and 'vague to say the least'

Other members on the parenting forum agreed, calling the save-the-date card – which came with personalised biscuits – ‘bizarre’ and ‘over-the-top’.

One wrote ‘Bloody hell’, before adding: ‘She must really really really want you there.’

Another added: ‘This is bizarre! So are you to expect another ‘invite’ or save the date with the actual date and colour scheme??’

After initially saying the bride had put down a ‘few different dates’ down, the Mumsnet user who began the thread confirmed there were two dates on the card.

Many said it was very unusual to put more than one date down, while others said they thought the save the date tradition was 'weird anyway'

Some suggested that the bride might have been asking her which date would be better for her, or that one date might have been for the hen and stag dos

Some suggested one of the dates might be for the hen and stag do, although the guest said this was unlikely.

Meanwhile, others were left confused by the directions regarding the colour scheme on the save-the-date card.

One wrote: ‘Is she telling you to dress in orange or pink or telling you to stay away from them because, assuming obviously, that they’re her bridal colours’.

However, not everyone saw an issue with the save-the-date card, writing: ‘Aw she sounds excited and wants to make sure you can come. What’s the problem?’

Meanwhile, others were left confused about the vague 'hint' about the colour scheme (file photo)
