My Kitchen Rules star Luke Hines shares dangerous encounter with brazen car park thief wielding metal bar as weapon

Luke Hines has shared his close encounter with a brazen thief.

The former My Kitchen Rules star posted a video to Instagram Stories showing security footage from the secure car park of his Sydney apartment building.

A man in a hoodie could be seen sneaking in as Luke drove out at 7am, assessing some parked bikes and propping a door open.

The man later returned to the scene and sawed the safety chain off a bike with bolt cutters and wheeled it out from the garage.

Luke, who is based in Bondi, said he had a feeling something was wrong and inspected the area before locking the entry door, but didn’t see anything amiss.

He later watched back the footage and realised the opportunistic thief had slid in after he drove his car through an automatic door.

The man entered just seconds after Luke left the carpark brandishing what Luke described as a weapon in the form of a metal bar, which was left behind.

He said the building is very safe, with a pin code required for entry, but the man had managed to sneak in.

Luckily, he was unharmed but the thief managed to make off with the expensive bicycle.

Luke appeared on My Kitchen rules back in 2014, which he won alongside friend Scott Gooding.

He is also fitness coach who once worked with Angelina Jolie, as well as a TV host and cookbook author.

The fitness guru made headlines when he piled on weight during the pandemic lockdowns, then managed to shift 10kg in 10 weeks.

Luke weighed 85kg before Covid, but ballooned up to 100kg thanks to eating treat foods like they were everyday meals, and bad training habits.

‘When I decided to lose weight, I wrote everything I did down and documented it to help others in their weight loss journeys,’ he told FEMAIL.

‘I have learned that it is all about having a strong mindset.’
