San Diego residents were left baffled when an enormous $250million superyacht appeared in the San Diego harbor earlier this year.
The ginormous boat had already been docked for months, when one Reddit user posted a photo of it and asked if anyone knew anything about it.
The user claimed the massive vessel was worth $250million and could accommodate 12 passengers.
But his fellow Redditors were quick to piece together the information, identifying the 388-foot ship as the Liva O, which was built by renowned shipbuilder Abeking & Rasmussen last year.
It is equipped with two 2200 kW electric propulsion motors, as well as two 2240 kW Caterpillar main generators and three 599kW Caterpillar auxiliary generators, the ship builder announced at its launch.
Among its many amenities is a so-called Neptune lounge, which offers an underwater view, a 12 x 4 meter pool, a fully-certified helicopter lounge and a large marble-clad fireplace.
‘I wanted this boat to be timeless, elegant, pure, thine, classic, contemporary with a large amount of outdoor space to be immersive with the surround landscape,’ designer Joseph Dirand said.
‘This is exactly what I see when I look at it today – the black hull is really spectacular and looks completely monolithic.’

Another Reddit user claimed that the ship is owned by Stephen Orenstein, whose father founded the Supreme Group – an overseas supplier of food and fuel for defense forces during wartime.
Orenstein is estimated to have a net worth of $2million.
He is now apparently taking his ship, which ranks as the 49th largest in the world, on a global tour, according to a Facebook post.
It is now docked off the coast of Hawaii, and is planning to visit Asia next.
But on Reddit, some users also expressed their outrage over Orenstein’s massive ship, while others hit out at the owner – whose company agreed to pay $434million in 2014 to settle criminal and civil allegations that it overbilled the federal government for food and bottled water to American troops in Afghanistan.
Supreme’s contract with the US government was worth $8.8billion from 2005 to 2013, according to court documents obtained by Bloomberg.
It agreed to pay $250million in criminal penalties to resolve allegations that it considered overcharging even for ice, the court documents said.
The company also agreed to pay $101million to settle a whistle-blower lawsuit, $38.3million to refund the troop-support agency for bottled water, and $45million to address other allegations.

‘This is about soldiers in the desert being charged outrageous amounts of money for something like water, all for money,’ US District Court Judge said before accepting the plea. ‘That’s pretty low.’
One Reddit user noted that Orenstein was ‘blocking the public view with a boat more or less purchased with stolen public money.
‘He should be in jail, but instead he’s thumbing his nose and showing off, not the least ashamed.’
‘Would be a shame if orcas sank it,’ another Reddit user joked.
