Police in India have launched a murder probe after a controversial influencer was found dead in the back of a car two days after heading to a promotional event.

Kanchan Kumari, famous for stirring controversy with her videos posted to her nearly 400,000 followers, was tragically found dead on Wednesday night in a car park at Adesh Medical University in Bathinda, Punjab province, India.

Locals called the police after reporting a foul smell coming from the car.

Police found and identified the body after searching the car, which was registered to an address in Ludhiana, a city around 80 miles away.

The cops’ investigation revealed she had left her home on Monday, telling her family she was travelling to Bathinda to attend a promotional event.

But her family reportedly told cops they hadn’t heard from her since.

Local media reported that CCTV footage showed a man driving the car Kumari’s body was found.

It was reported that the video shows the man parking the car before walking away.

Officials believe she may have been killed somewhere else, before being moved to the university’s car park.

Narendra Singh, Superintendent of Police for Ludhiana, said: ‘Last night, a woman’s body was found in the parking lot of Adesh Hospital in Bathinda.

‘[She] was a well-known social media influencer, known for posting videos using obscene language. We are investigating the matter from all aspects.’

Singh added: ‘Due to the advanced stage of decomposition, it is currently not possible to determine the presence of any injury marks.

‘The body has been sent to Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Civil Hospital for post-mortem.’

He also said that the number plates attached to her car appeared to be fake.

It comes after another popular social media influencer’s cause of death was revealed following her passing just two days before her 25th birthday.

Misha Agrawal the founder of Mish Cosmetics passed away on April 24.  A notification of her death on her Instagram page revealed the heartache of her loss.

Agrawal’s sister released a statement on Instagram Tuesday, confirming she died by suicide after feeling ‘worthless’ over not reaching 1million followers.

She wrote: ‘My little baby sister had built her world around Instagram and her followers, with a single goal of reaching 1 million followers and gaining loving fans.

‘When her followers started decreasing, she became distraught and felt worthless. Since April, she had been deeply depressed, often hugging me and crying, saying…’what will I do If my followers decrease? My career will be over.’

‘I tried to console her, explaining that this isn’t her entire world, It’s just a side job, and if it doesn’t work out, it’s not the end. I reminded her of her talents.’

‘I advised her to view Instagram as mere entertainment and not let it consume her. I urged her to focus on her happiness and let go of anxiety and depression.

‘Unfortunately, my little sister didn’t listen and became so consumed by Instagram and followers that she left our world forever. Tragically, she became so overwhelmed that she took her own life, leaving our family devastated.’
