Mystery surrounds Lee Lin Chin’s whereabouts as iconic SBS presenter hasn’t been seen in months after quitting TV

Iconic SBS newsreader Lee Lin Chin used to be a regular on Australian TV screens, but now appears to be flying well under the radar.

According to New Idea, former coworkers have not seen or heard from Lee, who resigned from the Australian broadcaster in 2018, for some time.

One close colleague said ‘she came halfway out of retirement’ to film a commercial in 2023, ‘then promptly went underground again.’

Another friend told the publication ‘I couldn’t tell you exactly where she is… she has never liked doing interviews because she simply doesn’t like talking about herself.’

It’s understood the former broadcaster splits her time between Sydney, Singapore and London.

Lee describes herself as a ‘Former Journalist. Artist. Muse’ in her Instagram bio, however, has not posted to the social media site since November 19, 2023.

Industry sources also told the magazine that the newsreader’s production company, All the Chin’s Men, launched following her SBS departure, is no longer in operation.

‘Nobody knows quite what she’s up to at the moment,’ the insider said.

The Jakarta born anchor was one of the country’s most popular media personalities and is well known for her flamboyant outfits and dry sense of humour.

Confidential reported in 2018 that the lauded newsreader could find herself on Channel Ten’s The Project with industry insiders claiming she would be a natural fit for the format.

‘Her popularity with the younger demographic would be something Ten would be keen to capitalise on,’ the source said at the time.

The claim was given further credence when Lee Lin told Ten Daily that she would be ‘happy’ to move to the network.

However, Lee has never served as a presenter on the panel show.
