A Pennsylvania teen is facing charges after police say he attacked his family while he was tripping on LSD and then resisted arrest while naked and covered in cooking oil.
Lonnie Beatty, 19, of New Apollo, Pennsylvania, was charged with one misdemeanor count each of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, following the incident which occurred in January.
Additional charges including assault, terroristic threats and endangering the welfare of children were dropped following a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, when the alleged victims declined to testify or pursue charges against Beatty, TribLive reported.
Police said that Lonnie Beatty, 19, of New Apollo, Pennsylvania, was naked, covered in cooking oil and high on LSD when he was arrested after attacking his family and girlfriend in a home
According to police, Beatty had taken LSD on January 16 and then assaulted two women – one of whom is his girlfriend – and three children in the home that morning. To escape from Beatty, they had to climb out of a window and then hide in a parked car at the bottom of the driveway.
In their affidavit obtained by the Smoking Gun, police said that when they arrived, they heard a male yelling inside the home and the sound of things being broken.
Then, Beatty – naked, save for one sock – ran out the front door of the trailer, screaming ‘No,’ before jumping off the front porch of the trailer and then running through the snow in the front yard.
The officers said that it appeared that Beatty was covered in his own blood, but the substance later turned out to be cooking oil.
Officers reported having a hard time trying to apprehend Beatty. He refused to obey commands to stop and get down on the ground.
Police said that Beatty’s victims noted they had never seen him so out of control while on LSD and that under normal circumstances, he would not have attempted to hard the children
Beatty was released on $10,000 bail. Twenty two other misdemeanor counts were dropped after his family refused to press charges or testify against him during a hearing on Tuesday
When Beatty tried to approach the parked car where the victims were hiding, officers tasered him. He managed to pull out the taser wires by rolling on the ground, before running back into the trailer where a struggle ensued.
Due to Beatty ‘being naked and covered in Cooking oil attempts to gain control were difficult,’ officers wrote.
When police were finally able to take custody of Beatty, they took him to the hospital.
During the incident, the victims said that the family dog had bitten Beatty during his rampage and that they had never seen Beatty ‘this out of control’ after taking LSD and that he ordinarily ‘would have never attempted to harm the kids.’
Beatty was initially charged with 24 misdemeanor counts. He was freed on $10,00 bail and is awaiting a formal arrangement.
