Napoli have reportedly entered talks with former AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso amidst claims that Carlo Ancelotti could be sacked next week.

Ancelotti’s side have gone eight games without a victory across all competitions and there have been suggestions that he could be dismissed after the Champions League game at home to Genk on December 10.

As reported by Football Italia, Gattuso is the leading candidate to take over if Ancelotti is sacked.

There have been major problems behind the scenes at Napoli, with owner Aurelio De Laurentiis threatening to take legal action against the club’s players before fining them for refusing to participate in a training camp.

Ancelotti is in his second season as Napoli manager. He guided the club to a second place finish in Serie A last campaign, but they are currently in seventh spot.
