  • Napoli players look set to head to a training retreat ahead of taking on Genoa
  • Players refused to attend the club’s training retreat after the Champions League
  • Chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis wanted players locked in at their training base
  • Supporters reacted angrily on Thursday as the squad held open training session

Napoli players are reportedly ready to end their feud with fiery owner Aurelio De Laurentiis by heading to a training retreat ahead of their Serie A game against Genoa on Saturday.

Sky Italia are reporting that Carlo Ancelotti’s side are ready to head to the base before facing Thiago Motta’s side after a mutiny has enveloped the club following their 1-1 draw with Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League.

Ancelotti will not give a pre-match press conference on Friday and the clubb has gone further to brief that no one will speak to the media ahead of the Genoa match.

The training retreat at Castel Volturno is seen as a way for Ancelotti and his players to concentrate.

Fans caused chaos on Thursday with banners and insulting chants as they voiced their discontent at the owner and striker Lorenzo Insigne.

The group of ultras held up a banner with ‘respect’ written on it, set off an orange flare and belted out: ‘You are, you are, you are mercenary. Can’t you hear this voice? You were already on your own.’

Hometown star Insigne was picked on repeatedly by the angry mob, due to his role in the dispute, as was the chairman.

The supporters feel the club is being torn apart by both sides. They chanted, ‘Only you’re winning’ at De Laurentiis.
