NASA astronaut realizes he’s left his memory card back on Earth

Hilarious footage taken from a NASA spacewalk shows even our most qualified astronauts are not immune to human mistakes.

A spaceman revealed he had forgotten to pack a crucial piece of technology as he set out on his live-streamed spacewalk on Wednesday.

‘Hey Houston I gotta ask you a question about the GoPro real quick,’ he said.

‘I’m pushing the button and getting a “no SD [card]:”… that means… do I need that to record? And if it’s recording is there supposed to be a red light on?’

Without an SD card, the astronaut would be unable to record anything, rendering it useless.

The astronaut, who is either Drew Feustel or Ricky Arnold, was left in silence by the command center for an agonizing 40 seconds.

‘I’m told that if it has the card in it, it should have a red light if it’s recording,’ a person in the command center back on earth said.

With the ramifications of his mistake still not sinking in, the astronaut asks about his missing SD card again.

‘And if it says “No SD”, what does that mean?’ he asked.

‘I think that means no card,’ the control center responded.

Frustrated, he tried to move on from his embarrassing blunder.

‘Well, let’s just forget it for now. I’ll get it later,’ he said.

‘Let’s just not worry about it.’

Wednesday’s spacewalk, NASA’s fifth of the year, took six hours and 31 minutes.

The two veteran astronauts were performing maintenance on the International Space Station.
