Veteran journalist Natarsha Belling reveals what really happened when she was sacked from Channel Ten – and says she ‘didn’t have a voice’ on the network


Natarsha Belling was sacked from Channel Ten in a brutal round of budget cuts in August 2020. 

And the veteran journalist has revealed that she was left unemployed for less than a day. 

Speaking to Stellar Magazine this week, the 51-year-old said that new opportunities came calling at once.

‘I got a call the morning after I left Ten asking me to front [an] innovative news podcast and be a key part of a new national radio talk show,’ she said. 

Natarsha picked up work on the podcast Australia Today’s Morning Agenda and radio show Australia Today With Steve Price. 

Channel Seven also seized the chance to hire the talented TV star, who is now a regular on Sunrise and The Morning Show.

The host says that she feels she is better able to express herself in her new roles than she was as a newsreader at Ten.   

‘I didn’t have a voice. I feel like now I have a voice and a platform to talk about issues that I’m incredibly passionate about,’ she added. 

Four months after losing her gig of more than 20 years with the Ten network, Natarsha returned to TV.

She started freelancing at the Seven Network, filling in for The Morning Show host Kylie Gillies while she was on leave. 

The mother-of-two co-hosted the breakfast program alongside Larry Emdur, who welcomed her to the team.

She also appears on Weekend Sunrise – off the back of Angela Cox moving to the 6pm news role.
