Nathan Lyon’s wife Emma reveals heartwarming video of their baby learning to walk – but still keeps one big thing about their child a secret

  • Couple are famously private people
  • Managed to hit the pregnancy with clever photos
  • Have offered a rare glimpse in their private lives

Aussie Test cricket star Nathan Lyon is going to have another little challenge on his hands after his wife Emma revealed touching footage of their baby reaching a key milestone.

Emma posted video of their little bundle of joy walking, with the caption ‘POV: you blinked’.

‘It’s true, it really does go too fast!’ she added.

The family dog Gus is close by the watch over the Lyon’s bundle of joy, with one friend commenting that he looked like a bodyguard.

‘He is so tolerant and [a] gentle big boy,’ Nathan’s mother Bronwyn Lyon replied.

Lyon himself has liked the post, commenting three love eye emojis as well.

‘So cute but now they only get faster,’ another friend warned.

It comes just weeks after Emma shared more rare images of their child, albeit with a hat on and facing away from the camera.

Nathan has two daughters, Harper and Milla, with his previous wife. However the Test cricket star and Emma have been extremely guarded about their first child together.

They have not revealed the rapidly-growing child’s name and take care to only post images and videos that do not show their face.

Emma and Nathan Lyon, both 35, have maintained a high level of privacy regarding their child since the birth last year.

Prior to this, the pregnancy was kept under wraps until Daily Mail Australia released exclusive photos, after which the couple offered no comment about the child’s paternity.

Throughout this time, Emma skillfully managed to conceal her pregnancy on social media, even while accompanying Nathan on the Ashes tour from July to August.

She adeptly used styling choices to disguise her baby bump, and during a paparazzi encounter in May, she wore a concealing overcoat.

The couple also kept their engagement private before marrying in July 2022, making no formal announcements about their baby, highlighting their commitment to privacy.

Lyon has been the doting dad, though, after revealing previously he had not been the best husband after returning from The Ashes last year.

The record-breaking spinner was at his lethal best in the first two Tests as Australia claimed a 2-0 lead, but his series ended with a torn calf during the second Test at Lords.

He previously admitted that his injury and recovery made him difficult to be around, but praised his wife for everything she did – while pregnant as it turns out.

‘I probably wasn’t the nicest person or the greatest husband throughout that time when I was back home watching the last three Test matches as well. But we got through it,’ he said.

‘I was able to get in contact with Emma and I was able to have a chat to her, which was nice and comforting.

‘She sees me at my highs, she sees me at my lows, probably more than anyone. To have her support, there’s nothing else that comes close to that in the world.

‘I’m very grateful for Em and what she’s been able to do for me, especially throughout my career.’
