Naz Reid and the Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a three-year $42 million contract that includes a player option, his agents Sean Kennedy and Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management told ESPN.

The deal will keep the 23-year-old in Minnesota and avoid Reid testing free agency following a season that saw him record career highs with 11.5 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

He also shot 53.7 percent and made 34.6 percent of his three-point attempts throughout the season.

Inserting the player option for the 2025-26 season will allow Reid to cash in on another new contract in just two years if he continues playing at a high level.

Reid played in 68 contests last season before ending the year injured with a broken wrist that he suffered while going for a slam dunk.

He joined the Timberwolves as an undrafted free agent after playing for the LSU Tigers in college, and established himself as a trusted backup to both Karl Anthony-Towns and Rudy Gobert.

Following the All-Star break in February, Reid scored 242 points in 312 minutes of playing time.

Only NBA MVP Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers averaged more points per minute over that span, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.

Denver Nuggets center and NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokic was third in the same category to close out the season.

Minnesota’s season ended when they were defeated in the first round of the NBA playoffs by the eventual Finals champion Nuggets.
