Neale hurts shoulder at Lions AFL training

Brisbane Lions star Lachie Neale has left Lions training early clutching his right shoulder.

The Brownlow Medallist fell onto the Gabba turf during Tuesday’s session and headed straight down to the rooms rather than staying out on the ground with his teammates.

Neale didn’t appear to be in huge distress as he left the field but the incident is a concern after the midfielder’s injury-plagued 2021 AFL season.

Neale missed matches earlier this season due to back and ankle issues and hurt the same shoulder early in the Lions’ recent match against Geelong before playing the match out.

He then missed Brisbane’s win over Adelaide with a calf niggle before returning to play in last weekend’s shock loss to St Kilda.

Meanwhile, forward Lincoln McCarthy has re-signed with the Lions for a further three seasons, keeping him at the Gabba until the end of 2024.
