A neighbour has been slammed for leaving their two bins on the street and blocking part of a pedestrian crossing.
A visually impaired resident took a photo of the bins in Carlton, in Sydney’s south, and shared it to Reddit.
‘These people have been leaving their bins blocking the crossing every single bloody week since I moved here in October,’ they wrote.
The picture showed a red waste bin and a yellow recycling bin left in front of an entryway to the footpath.
The pair of bins were left metres from several other bins that had been correctly placed on the side of the road.
‘It’s a freaking jerk move,’ the outraged resident wrote.
‘Crossings are meant to be safe for pedestrians to cross the road. I’m visually impaired, it’s not safe to just cross the road anywhere.
‘Maybe a driver will see my cane, but this shouldn’t even be an issue … it’s also just bloody annoying.’
The furious resident slammed the owners of the two bins (pictured) that had been left in front of an area that allows pedestrians to access the footpath nearby
The post attracted hundreds of comments with many social media users also frustrated by residents who leave bins on narrow roads.
‘Half the time the bins are blocking half of the road for traffic coming both ways,’ one person said.
Another person wrote: ‘People here have no respect for others with the bins. I live in the sole house on a street full of apartment blocks and the a***holes next door put their bins in front of my driveway with impunity.’
‘It shouldn’t be that difficult to place the bins a bit closer to the others and out of the way of the path,’ a third added.
Others urged the resident to inform their council about the issue.
‘Report it to the local council directly … You can probably do it via their website or give them a call,’ one person wrote.
Some said the bins might not have been placed in front of the footpath ‘deliberately’ and said the issue could have occurred because of the limited space on the road.
‘I don’t think it’s deliberate. They’ve spaced the bins nicely side by side for the truck tines to pick up the bins. Looks like space is at a premium,’ one person wrote.
‘Give them a chance to correct themselves and if not, then you can escalate,’ another person wrote.
Dozens of commenters suggested leaving a note inside the mailbox of the owner of the bins in an effort to address the issue.
According to their website, Georges River Council advises residents to ‘avoid obstructing footpaths or driveways’.
Locals are also urged not to place waste collection items on the road or gutters
Daily Mail Australia has contacted the council for further comment.
