NeNe Leakes SUED over alleged $22,900 unpaid rent for former clothing store Swagg Boutique – three years after pandemic forced closure

NeNe Leakes is being sued over an alleged $22,900 in unpaid rent for her former clothing store Swagg Boutique in Georgia.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 55, is being sued by her landlord at Lawrenceville shopping mall Sugarloaf Mills. where the clothing store was formerly based.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, the landlord claims Leakes first signed a lease agreement back in 2017 and then extended it for another year in 2021. 

The landlord claims Leakes vacated the premises in January 2022 when the lease ended but failed to pay the balance of $22,900.

The landlord alleges they sent Leakes a letter in July asking her to pay but claims she never did.

The landlord is asking for damages to cover the rent plus attorney’s fees.

Swagg Boutique had multiple locations in Maryland, Georgia and Florida but closed in 2020 amid the pandemic.

The stores ultimately reopened but ‘going out of business sales’ were held before the businesses shut for good.

DailyMail.com has contacted NeNe Leakes’ representatives for comment.

This comes after the star said she is on a break with boyfriend Nyonisela Sioh last month.

During an interview with Carlos King on his Reality with the King podcast on July 24, the Bravo celebrity said: ‘Today, we are taking a break. We’ve been taking a break.

‘It’s … things I’m not happy with, things he’s not happy with. It’s just not working at the moment,’ she said.

The Never Make the Same Mistake Twice author – who got candid about her son Byron Bryant’s struggles with addiction – then joked: ‘He is single so if any of the ladies out there want to holla at him, go right ahead.’

The couple have been dating since late 2021 when they were spotted holding hands as they left a restaurant in Miami Beach.

The now former couple met through NeNe’s RHOA cast mate Cynthia Bailey’s ex-husband, Peter Thomas.

The couple made their red carpet debut at the 2022 BET Awards and she opened up to Extra about how Nyonisela had helped her get through the death of her husband Gregg Leakes.

‘I can’t say [Nyonisela] hasn’t helped me put a smile on my face,’ she said at the time. 

And she went on to talk about how she was able to find joy again, saying: ‘You have to be willing to be happy, and you have to make a lot of changes within yourself.’
