‘Nervous’ Channel Nine stars are hiring ‘spin doctors’ ahead of Lisa Wilkinson’s tell-all mamoir

Lisa Wilkinson has promised to ‘leave no stone unturned’ in her upcoming tell-all memoir, It Wasn’t Meant to Be Like This.

And The Project host’s former colleagues at Channel Nine are now reportedly bracing for impact, amid fears her book will air the network’s dirty laundry.

‘There are a lot of nervous nellies at Nine at the moment. She’ll be sure to go hard on the Nine lads’ club and, of course, her pay dispute,’ an insider told Woman’s Day.

‘Some are already arming themselves with their own spin doctors ready to put out the flames,’ the source claimed.

Another source told New Idea: ‘[Lisa is] not the type of person who is going to sugar-coat anything. There’s a few nervous faces out there, let me tell you – nobody is safe.’

Nine has been accused of running a ‘boys’ club’ of male executives for years, with Mamamia founder Mia Freedman – a former senior employee at Nine – describing the workplace culture as ‘so toxic and so bad for women that it was the most distressing career experience of my life’.

Fans are also no doubt hoping Lisa’s book will address her controversial exit from Nine in 2017, after a decade hosting the Today show alongside Karl Stefanovic.

Lisa quit Today amid a reported pay parity dispute with Nine.

She was reportedly unhappy that her Today co-host Karl Stefanovic was earning more than $2million, whereas she was on a $1.1million-per-year contract.

The network was supposedly only willing to increase her salary to $1.8million, but she demanded pay parity.

When Nine wouldn’t budge, she quit and jumped ship to Channel 10.

Since joining 10 to host The Sunday Project in 2018, Lisa has landed sit-down interviews with the likes of Kim Kardashian, Kylie Minogue and Bradley Cooper.

In an interview with The Herald Sun in December 2018, Lisa applauded the high ‘calibre’ of her colleagues at Channel 10, including Carrie Bickmore, Fifi Box, Amanda Keller, Julia Morris and Gorgi Coghlan.

It comes after Lisa lifted the lid on her impending memoir in an Instagram post earlier this month.

Uploading a picture of the book’s front cover, Lisa penned a caption explaining how the book will offer an unprecedented look behind her glossy media image, and perhaps unearth some surprising details about the ‘real’ Lisa.

‘I’ve completely opened up on things I’ve never talked about before, not even with some of my closest girlfriends. I share the roller coaster ride of joys, and sadnesses, the pinch-myself moments, and the hard lessons I’ve had to learn along the way,’ she wrote in the caption

‘I’ve left no stone unturned, particularly when it comes to some of the more public moments you’ve seen in the headlines. Now, you’ll know the truth,’ she concluded.
