Will’s mother hopes Lou’s bubbly personality will lift Will’s depressed and cynical spirits, which she indeed does after the pair begin to fall in love with one another.

However, this comes after she overhears an argument between Will’s parents, which reveal his plans to ask for assisted suicide.

Lou then attempts to change Will’s mind by taking him on trips and adventures to convince him that his life is still worth living.

During an extravagant trip to Mauritius, Will tells Lou that he still intends to take assisted suicide, saying he wants her to live her own life to the full.

After spending his final moments together, Lou then learns that he has left her enough money to follow her dreams and encourages her to live a luxurious life of her own.

The film was well received by fans and critics alike, with a score of 7.4 on IMDb.

It also won an award for Favourite Dramatic Movie at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards, while being nominated at the MTV Movie and TV Award in the ‘tearjerker’ category.
