Netflix fans rave about ’10/10′ Oscar-winning movie as they declare ‘it was one of the best films I’ve ever seen’

Netflix fans are hailing an Oscar-winning movie as one of the best films they have ever seen after it dropped on the streaming platform at the start of this month.

Cinema-lovers were blown away by the picture in question, which was released in 2018 to great critical acclaim.

They expressed their love for a film that – despite winning an Academy Award – was not as popularly received by the public as some of its contemporary releases.

The release has a rating of 8.2/10 on IMDb and an audience score of 91 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film concerned is Green Book, which centres on the chance friendship between a renowned pianist and his driver/bodyguard.

The film’s synopsis reads: ‘When Tony Lip, a bouncer from an Italian-American neighbourhood in the Bronx, is hired to drive Dr Don Shirley, a world-class Black pianist, on a concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South, they must rely on ‘The Green Book’ to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for African-Americans.

‘Confronted with racism, danger—as well as unexpected humanity and humour—they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime.

‘The film [is] inspired by a true friendship that transcended race, class and the 1962 Mason-Dixon line.’

At the 2019 Oscars, Green Book saw off competition from Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star Is Born to win Best Picture.

Mahershala Ali was also recognised for his performance as Dr Don Shirley, which saw him with the award for Best Supporting Actor.

After watching it for the first time following its arrival on Netflix, fans rushed to X, formerly Twitter, to express their love of the film.

One fan wrote: ‘Anyone else watched Green Book yet? For me 10/10’.

A second left a glowing appraisal, commenting: ‘Watched Green Book on Netflix. Really good watch’.

Another praised it for a compelling score, as they posted: ‘Watched Green Book tonight. A grand film with a grand soundtrack.’

A further user helpfully pointed out that it is no longer available on Prime Video, having been made available on Netflix.

They said: ‘For anyone that needs to know…which is everyone. Green Book is on Netflix having left Prime. You’re welcome!’

A fifth added: ‘Watching Green Book on Netflix. Thoroughly entertaining, I must say…Mahershala Ali & Viggo Mortensen are great in it’.
