Ms Hamer, who works in financial services in Brummen, Netherlands, was at home when she noticed her Maxxter 3D webcam moving on its own accord.

She has since posted chilling footage of the incident on Facebook.

In the post, Ms Hamer wrote: ‘I walked into the living room and I saw my camera move.

‘The camera went back and forth. I had no idea what he was doing. Was it updating?

‘All of a sudden, I heard a rumble. The camera turned my way, and I heard, “bonjour madame”.

‘I moved to the left and right, and the camera came with me.’

Ms Hamer quickly unplugged the device, but reinstalled it later that night to show a friend.

The voice quickly returned, and this time became more aggressive, saying: ‘ohhhhhhh suck my d***!’

While it is unclear how the hacker accessed to the webcam, there are several websites around that allow people to gain access to cameras to snoop on unsuspecting victims.

Since the incident, Action, the firm that sells the Maxxter 3D webcam, has advised users to change their pin number.

In a statement on its website, Action wrote: ‘In response to messages on Facebook and in the media about the possible hacking of a security camera purchased from Action, we would like to inform you that Action takes the security of its customers and the products we sell extremely seriously.

‘We are in touch with this customer about this incident.

‘In order to investigate the cause and to determine whether it is in camera or something else, the camera concerned is requested so that it can be checked by the supplier thoroughly.

‘Should it prove that the camera does not meet our requirements then it will, of course, be called back and we will inform our customers about this.

‘This camera has been sold at Action since May 2017. Customers who bought this product, we strongly recommend that you change the default ID password and use a strong WiFi password.’

MARK ZUCKERBERG COVERS MACBOOK CAM WITH TAPE

In June, a photo of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed his concerns about being spied on.

A photo that he shared to help celebrate Instagram’s 500 million monthly active users shows the camera and audio jack on the billionaire’s Macbook covered with pieces of tape.

After posting the photo online, Chris Olson was the first to point out on Twitter that tape is covering his camera and audio jack on his Macbook at his desk.

It’s rumored that skilled hackers are able to take over the front facing cameras on laptops when they’re not covered up.

It appears as though Zuckerberg, who is worth $35.7billion, is trying to prevent that from happening by placing a piece of tape over his camera, making the webcam useless.

A close-up of the image shows the webcam and microphone on  Zuckerberg's laptop both covered with tape. The picture was widely circulated on the web after the no-frills security measure was spotted
