Never-before-seen images of Tina Turner capture her at her best

Behind-the-scenes photographs of Tina Turner taken in 1996 as she embarked on a  whirlwind publicity tour have been released. 

The black-and-white images, which have never been seen before, came to light following the singer’s death aged 83 earlier this week.

The snapshots, which were taken by British photographer Duncan Raban, documented Tina’s journey from London to Paris as she attended a series of interviews and promotional events.

She kept to a strict work schedule packed full of interviews and rehearsals but still found time to show off her more playful side.

Raban was granted exclusive behind-the-scenes access to Tina in February 1996 as she embarked on a whirlwind trip to promote her projects.

This included publicity for James Bond movie GoldenEye, for which she performed the theme tune, as well as her Wildest Dreams Tour. 

Commencing in the spring of 1996 The Wildest Dreams Tour lasted for 16 months, and included more than 250 concert dates in Europe, North America and Australasia. 

In one set of images, taken in London, the megastar could be seen getting ready to leave her suite at the Hyde Park Hotel.

Her meticulous personal itinerary showed that she soon left from Heathrow to travel to Paris, France.

The Proud Mary singer set off in a private jet – during which time she took the opportunity to squeeze in a quick nap as she settled under a blanket.

She proudly held up corsets, pawed through shoes, danced around the floor, and playfully pulled faces as she was squeezed into a skintight dress.

But, according to her strict itinerary, the trip was quite the balance of work and play for the Queen of Rock and Roll. 

Following a quick makeup appointment that same day, Tina had a busy schedule including no less than six interviews before heading on to TV rehearsals.

Throughout her travels, she was accompanied by publicist Bernard Doherty who remained her right-hand man until the day she died.

She had previously battled intestinal cancer and suffered with high blood pressure for over four decades. 

Her representatives confirmed to DailyMail.com that the hitmaker died from natural causes. 

They announced the sad news of her death on May 24, saying: ‘With her the world loses a music legend and role model.’ 

Throughout her career, Turner won eight Grammy’s from 25 nominations and three lifetime Grammy Awards. 

She is survived by two of her four sons – two preceded her in death – and her 67-year-old husband, Erwin Bach.
