New South Wales QR check-in system crashes

Service NSW app crashes leaving diners unable to check in to venues with QR codes and throwing Covid contact tracing into chaos

  • Service NSW tweeted on Thursday afternoon their QR check-in system crashed 
  • They also said customers were locked out of their MyServiceNSW accounts 
  • QR codes used by contact tracers to track patrons at Covid exposed venues 

New South Wales residents are unable to check-in to venues across the after the Service NSW app has crashed. 

Service NSW confirmed about 4.15pm on Thursday CovidSafe QR check-ins were affected by the outage. 

‘We’re working to resolve this ASAP and apologise for any inconvenience,’ Service NSW said on Twitter.

Customers are also locked out of their MyServiceNSW accounts and Dine & Discover vouchers are affected. 

The QR code check-in system requires anyone attending a hospitality venue in the state to scan a barcode and enter their details. 

The information can then be used by contact tracers to track down patrons in venues that have been exposed to Covid.
