The New Year’s Eve plans for dozens of passengers have been ruined after Tigerair cancelled a flight from Adelaide to Melbourne allegedly without any notice.

Nyssa Lambert, an Adelaide resident, waited an hour at the airport before only overhearing that her 6.45 flight on Friday had been cancelled, according to Nine News.

Ms Lambert said she overheard another customer complaining that they were unable to check in, and were then told their flight had been cancelled.

She said no staff members made an effort to tell the approximate 35 customers who were waiting to board.

Staff allegedly told her that ‘if she was lucky’ she would be put on another flight otherwise she would receive a refund.

She was forced to go back to her home in Adelaide and cancel her plans for New Year’s Eve in Melbourne.

‘There were people trying to get home for New Year’s Eve in Melbourne and they’ve had to either pay $300 on the spot to fly with someone else, or pay for weekend accommodation in Adelaide,’ she said.

Ms Lambert said the flights had been a gift from a friend, and that Tigerair told her she wouldn't be able to receive a refund on either of the tickets for two weeks

‘I think they hope that you’ll just go away, that you won’t chase it up,’ she said.
