New York Giants ‘expected to sign Sterling Shepard to a veteran minimum one-year deal’

New York Giants ‘expected to sign Sterling Shepard to a veteran minimum one-year deal’ with longtime wideout to remain in East Rutherford

The New York Giants will reportedly sign Sterling Shepard to a new contract in the imminent future.

Shepard missed most of last season for New York after suffering an ACL tear in his left knee during a September 24 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

According to multiple reports Big Blue is showing its faith in the 30-year-old, with the terms to be ‘a veteran minimum one-year deal,’ per Paul Schwartz.

Shepard played three games last season, making 13 receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown.

The longtime Giant will play his eight season in East Rutherford – and second under the NFL Coach of the Year, Brian Daboll.

Without Shepard, New York progressed to the Divisional Round of the NFC playoffs before losing resoundingly to NFC East rival, Philadelphia.

Once the new deal is officially completed, Shephard will continue his reign as the longest tenured player on the Giants roster.

With his contract expiring at the end of the previous season, Shepard told ESPN he preferred to remain with the Giants.

‘Of course, this is like my second home,’ Shepard said. ‘This is where I’ve always been and what I know.

‘So, I think anybody in my position would want to do that, but like I said, whatever happens, man.’

Since being taken in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Shepard has 362 receptions, 4,038 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns in 75 games.
