Jets owner Woody Johnson has confirmed that head coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas will be returning for the 2024 season.

It comes despite the New York Jets failing to make the playoffs after slipping to 5-9 after huge expectations were put on them in the summer.

The Jets were rocked by the season-ending Achilles injury to Aaron Rodgers on just the fourth snap in his debut at MetLife Stadium.

Since then they have struggled with Zach Wilson under center, using four quarterbacks over the course of the season and failing to provide any sort of offensive threat.

But that has not been enough to prompt Johnson into a reboot of the organization’s top positions.

‘My decision is to keep them,’ Johnson told the New York Post before Sunday’s game with the Commanders.

‘I think we’ve had some very positive moves. The culture of the team is a lot better.

‘The defense is better. The offense needs a few pieces.’

‘Just to keep the continuity going with Aaron and the team we’ve got,’ he added.

‘Like I said a year ago, we need a quarterback. We had a quarterback for four plays.

‘Since then we haven’t been able to replace him. If we have a good quarterback, it makes everybody’s job easier. It makes the line better, the receivers better.’

Wins have been hard to come by for Saleh in his first three seasons in New Jersey with the coach’s record currently 16-32.

Douglas, meanwhile, is 25-55 during his tenure after taking over as GM in June 2019.

He has had some success in the draft with Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson while trading for Rodgers appeared to be a masterstroke before he got injured.

Johnson has been impressed with the impact Rodgers has had on the organization since his arrival and is hoping for big things next season.

‘I think if you see Aaron Rodgers right now and the impact he’s having on the team and what he’s able to do with virtually no practice, it’s amazing,’ Johnson said.

‘He’s in the fourth quarter of the league year and he’s throwing like he’s practiced all year.

‘When he starts practicing and gets the timing with receivers just perfect, I think you’re going to see some amazing things.’
