New York Jets’ Haason Reddick ‘risks losing $21.8min salary and fines if holdout continues as both sides remain far apart’

The New York Jets and defensive end Haason Reddick remain far apart on trying to strike a deal to get him on the field for the first time this season.

Reddick continues to hold out for a better deal, which means that he’s being fined $800,000 for all the games he’s missing.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, if Reddick holds out all season long and misses each game, he’ll lose about $21.75million.

That’s broken down as $4.5m in fines, $3m in discretionary bonus forfeiture – the maximum Reddick can lose in this holdout, and a whopping $14.25m in lost paragraph 5 base salary.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Reddick’s agents to confirm these numbers.

Reddick has been hoping for a better deal – and is interested in going to another team in order to find it.

Reddick requested a trade back on August 12 – just five months after being acquired via trade by the Jets from the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Jets gave up a conditional 2026 third-round pick to Philadelphia for Reddick.

After being introduced in a press conference on April 1, Reddick has not returned to the Jets’ team facilities since.

By holding out, Reddick is also missing out on having his entire salary guaranteed – which would have happened if he was on the Week 1 roster.

After acknowledging that Reddick wouldn’t be in the team’s season opener, Jets head coach Robert Saleh said the team would ‘welcome him with open arms’ if he ever wanted to return.

‘We’re going to love him up, and he’s going to be a part of this football team and he’s going to help us win a lot of football games,’ Saleh said on Sept. 7.

‘He’s got to sort through the financial stuff, which is none of my business.’
