Thinking the long-legged giants might be its extended family the youngster – who is still barely able to stand – wanders over to the impressive group.

Then one of the long-limbed creatures nudges the little one away – but still the baby impala surrounds the serene giants.

Yet gasps of fear can be heard from the footage when the giraffes move their gangling legs and nearly step on the tiny animal with their enormous hooves.

Unaware, the baby impala moves out the way just in time, avoiding any fatal injury.

At the end of the clip a happy ending occurs as the baby is seen reunited with its mother and eagerly runs with her away from the towering beasts.
