Newcastle United are looking to make a second bid of around £10m for Brighton defender Dan Burn after the Seagulls had rejected their initial bid.
The towering left sided centre back is a boyhood Newcastle fan and has just 18 months left on contract.
As Sportsmail reported on Tuesday, the 29-year old Burn has emerged as a target for Newcastle as they scramble to sign two centre backs before Monday’s deadline.

Brighton had earlier rejected an offer of around £8m but Eddie Howe’s side are keen to continue discussions in their attempts to land a centre-back before the January window closes.
Talks with Sevilla for £37m-rated Diego Carlos have dragged and they have started to make offers for alternatives.
An approach was also made for Liverpool’s Nat Phillips on Monday with the Anfield club still holding out for a permanent sale and a fee closer to their £15m valuation.
Burn was born in Blyth, Northumberland and is understood to be interested in the move if a fee can be agreed.
Newcastle are continuing talks with Lyon over a £30m deal for their midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. His former club Athletico Paranaense are due a 20 per cent sell on.

The 24-year old Brazil international has been courted by Juventus and Arsenal in recent months.
Once details are finalised he is due to have a medical following Brazil’s game with Ecuador.
