Eddie Howe is preparing to take his Newcastle players on a warm-weather training camp to Dubai next week.

The squad spent six days in Saudi Arabia in January, where they met members of the country’s Public Investment Fund, who own an 80 per cent stake in the club.

They returned from that trip to take 16 points from a possible 18 and Howe wants to use this international break to strengthen the team’s bond.

Sportsmail understands they plan to leave next Friday once getting sign-off from the owners — they play at Everton on Thursday — with a 17-day gap before their following game at Spurs on April 3.

Howe was on Friday confirmed as Manager of the Month for February and he is already halfway to defending his title after back-to-back victories in March.

Newcastle face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday having climbed 10 points clear of the bottom three in recent weeks, and the head coach said: ‘We’re going to need to be at our very best at a stadium where we know the size of the task.

‘It is a difficult ground to get anything from.

‘When we did win with Bournemouth (three times as manager) we got everything right and it is that type of ground where you do have to get everything right.’
