Newly engaged Emma Roberts, 33, reveals she still carries around the ‘blankie’ she was given at birth as she gives fans a look inside her handbag

Emma Roberts has revealed that she still carries around the ‘blankie’ she was given at birth.

In an video on Vogue’s YouTube channel, the Madame Web actress, 33, revealed what she keeps inside her tote bag.

After bringing M&M’s, a book from her book club, and a red lip gloss, from her bag, Emma said that she also always keeps some more personal items with her.

That’s when the American Horror Story mainstay pulled out a weathered piece of purple material. 

Emma explained: ‘My son has Honey Bear [another blanket] and then I have my blankie that I carry around with me.’

The newly-engaged actress continued: ‘But, I am an adult, so, I call it an anxiety rag, because that seems to be a little more acceptable.

‘But, this is just something that I just go like this [twirls the blanket around her fingers] when I have anxiety or when I’m feeling anxious.’

‘This is the twirling part, It’s like this all the time. It’s weird but I like it.’

Continuing to show what else was in her handbag, Emma also keeps a Birdie, a personal defense alarm, on her.

‘I’m new to this, my mom got it for me and my sister,’ she said showing it to the camera. 

‘Basically, if you’re in a bad situation, you pull it, and an alarm goes off very loud. Sometimes I’m walking alone at night and I’m scared.

‘Me and my sister carry these.’

Vogue’s ‘In The Bag’ segment is a popular one and other participating celebrities have included Kim Kardashian and Zayn Malik.

In another recent interview, Emma showed off her ‘doll wall’, featuring over 50 dolls, which stands proudly in her £3 million Los Angeles mansion.

Emma described her house as a ‘grown up doll house’ as she took fans around her home in a video with Architectural Digest.

Further digging into her handbag, Emma pulled out a small doll out and said: ‘I’m a doll collector if you haven’t been following.’

On Tuesday, Emma announced that she is engaged to Cody John.

In an Instagram post she held up her left hand which had a large sparkling diamond engagement ring on her wedding finger.

She captioned the post: ‘Putting this here before my mom tells everyone.’

Prior to dating NCIS actor Cody she dated Alex Pettyfer, Evan Peters, to whom she was also engaged, and, most recently, Garrett Hedlund.

Emma shares her son Rhodes, three, with Garrett.
