In an interview with Woman’s Day on Monday, Schapelle spoke about getting her Queensland driver’s licence back after being imprisoned overseas for nine years.
‘Yes! I’ve just got my licence back. If your driver’s licence has expired for more than five years in Queensland, then you have to do the written test and a driving test.
‘I just passed both! I’m so excited to have my independence.’

Schapelle was just 27 years old when she was arrested at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport in October 2004 after customs officers found 4.1kg of marijuana inside her boogie board bag.
The following year, the former beauty student was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Denpasar District Court.
She served nine years in ‘Hotel K’ before being released on parole in February 2014 and subsequently deported back to Australia in May 2017.
