Newly-single Liam Hemsworth emerges for a lunch with pals following split from wife Miley Cyrus

Liam Hemsworth stepped out in Byron Bay on Sunday with pals amid the scandal surrounding the demise of his marriage to Miley Cyrus. 

The handsome star, 29, looked low-key as he stepped out with friends just days after it was reported that he was left heartbroken by the scandalous images of Miley kissing Brody Jenner’s ex Kaitlynn Carter in Lake Como.

Putting on a brave face in the midst of the drama, Liam donned a casual grey tee with a black design while covering his eyes with black glasses.  

After announcing their split over the weekend, allegations have sprung from both sides surrounding the reasons for the demise of their marriage including claims that Liam was abusing substances and Miley, 26, is continually ‘immature’.

Insiders gave an insight into Liam’s reaction, with sources telling Page Six: ‘He was heartbroken and blindsided by those photos’, in news which surfaced after Miley and Kaitlynn were seen returning to LA from their Italian holiday on Wednesday.

The couple, who have dated on-off for 10 years, stunned fans when they announced they had split after just seven months of marriage.

Now, insiders have commented on his reaction to the kissing pictures and insisted that Miley’s immaturity caused problems for the couple.

It was apparent on Wednesday that Miley and Kaitynn are still thoroughly enjoying each other’s company when they were seen together in LA. Miley was in the driver’s seat of a car and could be seen chatting as Kaitlynn lounged alongside.

Prior to their arrival back in LA, it was claimed that Liam’s excessive use of drugs and alcohol contributed to the split, his insiders allege she was unfaithful.

Sources close to Miley, told TMZ the songstress tried ‘valiantly’ to save the marriage but couldn’t accept Liam’s ‘drinking a lot’ and ‘using certain drugs’.

Miley’s struggles with substance abuse in the past meant it was a ‘dealbreaker’ for the actress and especially hard for her to move past.

Sources on Liam’s side claim this is not correct, according to the site, and say the real issue was Miley’s infidelity.
