Newlywed husband puts his wedding ring for sale on eBay

A heartbroken husband has put his wedding ring up for sale online after his bride of 16 days ran off with another man.

Andy Mitchell, from Fife in Scotland, posted a picture of the wedding rings he and his wife exchanged at their £30,000 dream wedding ceremony in Mexico on June 3.

But Mr Mitchell accompanied the listing with the news that just six days after the ceremony he discovered his new wife Meaghan Mitchell was having an affair, and claimed it had started on her hen night.

The taxi service manager, who wants £400 for the wedding bands on Facebay Fife, also posted images of texts he claims were swapped between Meaghan and her new man.

Meaghan, 21, today admitted she had left Andy for another man but insisted they had not slept together until after the wedding.

The couple married in Akumal Bay Beach Resort, Mexico, at a lavish wedding attended by friends and family, on which they personally spent £6,000.

Photos of the wedding on Facebook show the apparently happy couple frolicking on the beach with their well-dressed guests.

But barely a fortnight later Andy, 40, decided to make a very public statement that their marriage was over.

He posted on the Facebook group Facebay Fife: ‘Hi, recently I got married in Mexico on the 23rd of June and this was the wedding set I used while Meaghan Mitchell said her marriage vows.’

He claimed: ‘However, six days later I found out she started having an affair on her hen night and it carried on for eight weeks through our dream wedding.’

The previous day he posted a series of what he claims were screenshots of his wife’s phone that appeared to show an intimate conversation between two people.

Andy said he was more ‘shocked than hurt’ when he found out.

He said: ‘We had no secrets. We trusted each other completely. I managed to get her phone off her and locked her outside.

‘I read all the messages and took pictures. All her friends and family are embarrassed. They don’t want anything to do with her.’

Meaghan said: ‘We did not have sex on our hen do – it was after the wedding. I didn’t do anything on my hen night.

‘We know what we’ve done and take full responsibility. I was young and naive when I first got with him.’
