Neymar has been banned for three Champions League matches following his conduct after Paris Saint-Germain’s defeat to Manchester United last season.

The Brazilian watched the second-leg tie from the stands at the Parc des Princes but later went on a tirade having seen his side knocked out following a stoppage time Marcus Rashford penalty.

He wrote ‘Go f*** yourselves’ on social media after the controversial VAR decision to award Manchester United a last-minute penalty in their last-16 tie in March.

Neymar will miss half of the Champions League group stage due to a three-match ban

PSG bowed out on away goals after a surprise 3-1 defeat in Paris when Marcus Rashford converted from the spot after Presnel Kimpembe was adjudged to have handled in the area.

It was a decision the striker was left furious about as without it, PSG would have progressed in the competition.

After the match, Neymar wrote in his Instagram story: ‘This is a disgrace, they put four people that know nothing about football in charge of looking at the replay for VAR.

‘There is no penalty. How can it be a handball when it hits his back! Go f*** yourselves!’

UEFA quickly looked to take action against Neymar and awarded him a three-match ban, a decision which has been upheld despite the Ligue 1 champions’ appeal.

It remains to be seen if Neymar will still be at PSG next season given the uncertainty surrounding his future, but it is now confirmed that he will miss half of the group stage in next season’s competition.

Barcelona are reported to be interested in reuniting with him after he left two years ago while La Liga rivals Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest as part of their grand summer overhaul.
