Tom Brady’s NFL broadcast debut was not well-received by some NFL fans, but one veteran broadcaster has blasted the criticism of him as ‘grossly unfair.’
Brady began his Fox Sports career by calling the Cowboys’ win over the Browns on Sunday, with his performance ripped as ‘atrocious’ 20 minutes after starting. It was later unfavorably compared to Jason Kelce’s ESPN debut ahead of Monday Night Football.
However, veteran broadcaster Joe Buck, who serves as the play-by-play man for Monday Night Football and has called 23 MLB World Series, believes the flack Brady has received is premature.
‘I think it’s absolutely impossible to grade anybody and say somebody is going to be good, not good after one game,’ Buck said on The Michael Kay show, per Sports Illustrated.
‘This is a hard job. We all do our piece of it. You have to be able to settle in, know what you need to know. … It’s grossly unfair that everybody wants to weigh in after five seconds. That’s not the way it works.’

In response to Brady’s on-air performance, one fan said: ‘Maybe someone should have listened to Tom Brady actually say words before dropping $300m on him’.
The legendary quarterback also got roasted for claiming that it’s ‘hard to make 10, but really hard to make 20 yards’.
Another fan even added that Kelce, who is part of the Monday Night Football pregame show, was ‘1000 times better than Tom Brady on TV.’
The former Eagles center showed his trademark sense of humor as he joked about his shirt being too tight, while it’s worth noting that Brady has a different job as an in-game analyst.
Nonetheless, one X user even ran a poll asking fans to vote for which of the analysts they preferred, and Kelce came out with a whopping 83.3% of the vote.
While some of the public is not loving Brady thus far as an analyst, a source close to the seven-time Super Bowl winner told DailyMail.com’s Russ Weakland that Fox executives were happy with his performance.

The source said: ‘Tom isn’t worried about his job, he is just looking forward to the next test and always be improving, that is who he is.
‘He is well known for proving people wrong, so this is just another example of that… he has a decade to get it all right and if anyone is going to make it work, it is pretty much a fact that Tom Brady will deliver the goods more times than not.
‘It is just in his DNA, he did great, he will get better and that is all that everyone at Fox is concerned about.’
Brady’s next assignment will be when the New Orleans Saints visit the Cowboys this weekend.
