NFL fan forced to throw Donald Trump ‘MAGA’ hat in the trash by stadium staff receives apology from team amid outrage

An Arizona Cardinals fan was forced to throw out her black ‘Make America Great Again’ hat when entering State Farm Stadium on Sunday for a game against the Los Angeles Rams.

A Cardinals season ticket holder named Susan Rosener said a stadium worker denied her entry to the game with her hat on, citing a stadium policy that political attire is not allowed inside State Farm Stadium.

Rosener told News 12 Phoenix that she threw out the hat, a longtime symbol representing Donald Trump, to not jeopardize seeing this or possibly future games.

‘In retrospect, I wish I would have stood my ground a little bit, but I wasn’t sure what the repercussions would be, and my husband would kill me if I did something with the season tickets or that jeopardizes them somehow,’ Rosener said.

The Cardinals have issued an apology saying that no such policy exists, only banning ‘signage, posters, flags, or displays that are….political in nature’ but not MAGA hats. They also have reached out to Rosener.

Donald Trump and his supporters have become well known for wearing red MAGA hats

‘In an isolated incident at Sunday’s game, a stadium security member misunderstood a policy on prohibited items. Like most venues, “signage, posters, flags, or displays that are….political in nature” are not permitted,’ the Cardinals said in a statement to Fox News.

‘However, that did not apply in this instance. Moving forward we will work to provide clarity to all stadium personnel in these situations. We have also reached out to the individual involved to communicate that their experience was not consistent with our policies and practices and to apologize for that.’

Conservative activist Alyssa Goncales was first to draw attention to the incident on X, with others saying they have had similar interactions at State Farm Stadium.

MAGA hats are more traditionally known for their red color, which is also the main color in the Cardinals logo in a different shade.

‘We have only heard from one individual. But if there were a couple others that had a similar interaction that should not have happened either,’ the Cardinals also stated to Fox News.

‘Again, it’s not our practice and in the 18+ seasons we’ve been in this stadium, it apparently has never occurred previously. Moving forward, though, we will work with all of the third party groups that interact with our fans to make sure this abundantly clear.’
